Hello there..

Hello there!

I want to start off by welcoming you to my new blog.

I’m fairly new to this whole writing on the internet stuff, so bare with me. You might be asking, “Why are you starting this blog in the first place?” Well the truth is, I’m making a major move in my life and I want to have somewhere I can document the process along the way. One of the great things about the times we live in is we have the power of the internet and the instant connection to so many possibilities. I want to be able to look back a year from now and see how much I’ve grown.

With that said, let me give you a little back story on little old Bru Bakerford..

I’m 21 years old and live in Traverse City, Michigan, which is literally on the list of the smallest population cities in the entire world. When I say small, I mean the population is under 15,000 people. Yes I know, that is crazy and laughable. You can have a good one on my account 🙂

I’ve lived here all my life, so when you sometimes hear the saying, “knows everyone in the community” that is my situation. At first, it was pretty cool I guess. I mean, being a part of such a small community of people you feel a sort of “comfortableness”

As I grew up though, I started to feel a sense of wanting more. Let me explain. The cycle is pretty simple here in Traverse City. You are born, you go to grade school, MAYBE attend the nearest community college, and then stay in town and start working somewhere.

Maybe at one of our many vineyards or breweries, oh yea, if you didn’t already know, that’s what we are kinda known for.

As I got closer to graduating High School, the conversations amongst my friends and I were all the same of what I had been hearing growing up.

“Hey Bru, you ready to get working for Johns Brewery?”

or “Bru, its’ looking like I’ll be working at Suzanne’s Vineyard after graduation”

I understand the importance of a JOB in this economy, but I just wanted something more.

So I set a plan in action. What was my plan? After graduation, I was going to start working at my uncles brewery down the street from where we live. The sole purpose of this was to save money.

For what? To move.

Where? My favorite city in the entire world. At least from seeing it in the movies, and visiting it once with my family.

In my next post I will let you know exactly where I decided to move.

See you tomorrow!
